An Afternoon at Hubb’s Farm

September 30, 2017

City Girl was at the farm a couple of weeks ago in Clinton, NC!  I was honored to be a guest at Hubb’s Farm media day where we toured their ten-acre corn maze and I participated in some fun-fun-fun activities.  It was my first time visiting both Clinton & Hubb’s Farm, which is located approximately seventy miles outside of Morrisville, NC.  The  farm is home to Hubb’s Corn Maze, which celebrates their 10th annual fall festival as of September 16th.  The festival is the largest fall festival in Eastern North Carolina and is open until November 11th.

This fall, the corn maze celebrates the North Carolina Gold Rush.  Did you know the first gold rush happened in NC?  This was a fun fact I learned on media day.  Hubb’s Farm also has special themed weekends like First Responders Weekend, Thank A Farmer Weekend, Pirate Invasion Weekend and Freedom USA Weekend.  If you have visited Hubb’s Corn Maze before, you will discover that each experience will be different.  This year, the corn maze has two new additions including Paydirt Pete’s Treasure Mine, where visitors “mine” for treasures and a Mini Zip Line.  Note the zip line does have a weight capacity of 100 pounds or less.

Hubb’s Farm is a wonderful weekend outing for Family Fun, but singles young at heart wanting to escape city life will also have an awesome time.  My drive was slightly over an hour and it was nice exploring a new city in North Carolina.  I may be an adult, but I had way too much fun on the Double-Barrel 17-foot Giant Slide and the Giant Jump Pillow.

For kid’s seeking cardio pumping adventures, Hubb’s has Rope Mountain.  I did not try climbing the mountain because I did not wear the proper shoes.  However, this is an awesome activity that will likely require tennis shoes.

Other activities at Hubb’s Farm include a pumpkin patch, tractor-drawn hay ride, Cranky the Combine, Animal Acres, “Crops of Fun” Play Land, Toddler Town, Giant Sand Box, House of Corn, Human Foosball, the Hubb’s Express Train Ride, Tough as a Farmer Competition and a covered picnic pavilion where you can purchase concessions.  Some of the menu items at Hubb’s include fried Oreos, fried Pop Tarts, Hubb’s hot donuts, muscadine grape slushies and more.  Heartier items include cheese burgers, cheesy bacon hot dogs, bologna sandwiches, nachos and more.

Don’t wait too long before you decide to venture out to Hubb’s Farm.  It is open each weekend through November 11th,  beginning with Fridays from 6-10 p.m., Saturdays from noon-10 p.m., and Sundays 1-6 p.m.

Hubb’s Farm also accommodates field trips, groups of all ages and parties.  Although the corn maze’s last official weekend is November 11th, Hubb’s has other events throughout the year, for holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day and other special events.  Hubb’s Farm is one of the state’s largest agri-tourism farms and is operated by Tammy and John Peterson. It is located at 10276 US Hwy 421 N, Clinton, NC 28328.  For more information, visit their website at http://www.hubbsfarmnc.com/.

Hubb’s is a fun adventure for kids and adults of all ages.  I was most impressed by how immaculate the grounds are and the amount of activities available.  Next time I visit, I look forward to trying their concessions, including their fried Pop Tarts and muscadine grape slushies!  Don’t let the fall pass you by and miss out on the fun in Clinton, NC!

How fun! Those slides and jumping bag look especially awesome. I’m 7 months pregnant so couldn’t partake in the fun but my 3 year old would have a blast! I could definitely stuff my face with some fried Oreos and goodies though! 😉

Looks a dang good time! I hate that I was unable to attend this event. Maybe I’ll get a chance to get my girls there before they close up in November. I would’ve been on the slide and that pillow jumping right along with you!

I am a huge fan of lychee martini’s. @red_thest I am a huge fan of lychee martini’s. @red_thesteakhouse in Miami makes a great one. It pairs beautifully with their signature Four Cheese 🧀 Macaroni & Cheese. Our waiter suggested that we add lobster 🦞 and it’s was maginifique!

I can’t decide what I like more, Cocktails 🍸 I can’t decide what I like more, Cocktails 🍸 or Cake 🍰? After years of driving by Maximillians Grill & Wine Bar on Chapel Hill Rd. in Cary, I finally went with my friend @ejdevita for a Taurus Celebration Dinner. Everything was fantastic. If you are a Martini-lover, try the Max Martini with blue cheese stuffed olives 🫒. My fellow Taurus introduced me to Martinis on the Rocks and I don’t plan to have a Martini shaken or stirred anymore. Maximillians makes all of their gelatos and desserts in house. If the Coconut Cake is on the menu - order it! It’s been one month since I had a slice of this dessert and I am still dreaming about it. The Pei Mussels are another must. Focaccia accompanies the mussels to soak up the delicious seafood broth. Other notable mentions are the Voodoo Of The Day and the Double Cut Pork Chop. @maximilliansgrillandwine menu is farm to table so dishes may change. If it’s not too hot out, grab a table on their patio. I do recommend you make a reservation - to guarantee your spot. Maximillians is located on 8314 Chapel Hill Rd. Cary, NC 27513.

Pure Vegan Cafe is a juice and vegan food restaura Pure Vegan Cafe is a juice and vegan food restaurant focused on using high quality, healthy ingredients to create premium juices, smoothies, and 100% vegan food. I visited their
8369 Creedmoor Rd. location in Raleigh after work last week and sampled their delicious plant-based menu items. While I am not Vegan, I do follow a diet rich in vegetables and fruits. Some of the food I sampled included the Banana Toast Crunch, PVC Tiki Burger, Chipotle Bowl and Novid Orange juice. I could not stop eating the PVC Tiki Burger. It is made of potatoes, peas, carrots and spices topped with lettuce, tomato, avocado, microgreens, chipotle mayo & honee mustard. In addition to the flavors, I like that I could see the veggies in this burger. It wasn’t a patty of mashed or compressed vegetables. I also enjoyed the Chipotle Bowl Salad made of romaine, black beans, avocado, quinoa, pico cashew dressing and cilantro dressing. Do not leave @purevegancafe with out trying an order of Sweet Potato Buffalo Ranch Fries! Make sure you bring a friend or two to sample these fries because you may end up eating the whole basket like I did 😂. Special thanks to Pure Vegan Cafe for hosting me and @bitesofbullcity for coordinating my visit.
